Q. What are the library hours?
A. The BHS Library is open 7:45am-4:45pm Monday through Thursday, and until 4:30pm on Friday. Occasionally, the library will be closed for special events, meetings, or testing.
Q. Do I need a pass to come to the library?
A. Yes, during the school day when leaving a class you will need to have a signed pass from your teacher. Passes are also required during lunch periods. See the librarian for a pass before lunchtime. These are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Passes are not required before and after school.
Q. May I brink food or drinks into the library?
A. Food is not allowed in the library. Water is the only beverage allowed in the library, and it should be in a bottle with a lid.
Q. How much does it cost to print out a page or make a copy?
A. Printed pages and photocopies are both 10 cents each.
Q. How many books can I take out at once?
A. You may check out 4 books at one time.
Q. How long are books checked out for?
A. Books are checked out for 2 weeks. If you need more time, just stop in a talk to any of us to renew the book.
Q. What do I need to check out a book?
A. You need your Bowie ID.
Q. I lost my ID. Can you make me a new one?
A. Yes. Please see the library staff before or after school to get a replacement made. There is a $5.00 replacement fee charged for this service.
Q. If a book is checked out, can I reserve it for when it comes back?
A. Yes, just see any of the library staff to reserve a book. You will be notified once the book is returned.
Q. Do you charge overdue fines?
A. Yes. Overdue fines are 10 cents a day per item, with a maximum fine of $5.00 per item. You may check out new books even if you owe fines; however, you will not be able to check out new books if you have overdue titles still checked out. Once you return the late books, you will be able to check out new ones.
Q. What should I do if I have lost or damaged a book?
A. Please see the librarian, Ms. Persyn. She will look up the cost of the replacement book. You will not be able to check out any new books until you have paid for your lost book.
Q. Do you sell school supplies in the library?
A. Yes, we have pen and pencil machines (25 cents each).

A. In the library, use the online catalog computers (the 2 computers on the end of the circulation desk) or click on the link for "Search for Books in the Catalog" on the library's homepage.
Q. Can I borrow supplies like pencils, markers, glue & scissors for a project?
A. Yes, you may use the supplies at the student supply center located at the circulation desk. These supplies should be used in the library and returned neatly to their home when you are finished using them so they are available for the next student.
